Many Ministry of Public Works employees not receiving salaries – union

KUWAIT CITY, April 14, (Agencies): The labor union of Ministry of Public Works said many employees of the ministry complained that they have not been receiving their salaries, which has been negatively affecting them and their families, reports Al- Qabas daily.

In a press release, Secretary General of the labor union Fawaz Al-Ghaiali revealed that the union checked with the concerned department in the ministry and was informed that these employees were absent from their work seven months ago. He stressed that the problems faced by these employees must be followed up and solved particularly those related to the needs of their families.

Meanwhile, the union has been coordinating with hospitals, travel agencies, sports clubs etc for discount packages for the members of the union. It declared that it will form public committees such as cultural and social committee, sports committee, grievances committee and women committee.

In other news, the Ministry of Education has approved the bonus for employees who serve as controllers in secondary schools under the lump sum salary contract of KD 452 per member, reports Al-Rai daily quoting acting Assistant Undersecretary for Administrative Affairs Yousif Al-Najaar.

Al-Najaar revealed the bonus will be paid to controllers of Science and Literature subjects in the secondary level during the second semester of academic year 2015/2016. He further clarified that this financial privilege will be granted to employees under the item ‘training, teaching, supervision and exams
