Maids office Indian secretary caught ‘selling’, hiring domestics illegally

KUWAIT CITY, June 25: An Indian secretary working for one of the domestic labor office has been arrested and referred to the concerned authority for taking advantage of her position to ‘sell’ or hire domestic workers on hourly basis.

This happened when a Kuwaiti suspected her and complained to the Public Authority for Manpower and the authority’s employment protection sector in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, set a trap for her in her Hawalli office arrested her when she agreed to replace one housemaid with another.

The price of domestic workers fluctuated on a daily basis and according to the secretary, it shot to even 200 dinars per month, of which 150 went into the pocket of the broker, and 50 for the worker PAM said a majority of these workers do not have personal identification and most of them are runaways from their sponsor.
