Lose weight, cut sugar – ‘No junk food’

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 19: The Chief Executive Officer of the medical sector at the Dasman Diabetes Institute, Dr Ibaa Al-Aziri, has revealed that studies and observational analyzes have found the possibility of overcoming Type 2 diabetes by losing weight and maintaining it by following a healthy lifestyle and healthy eating behaviors.

She said in a statement yesterday, after a scientific symposium which was held under the title ‘Global trends in overcoming diabetes’ in the United States of America that these results give more hope to people with this type of diabetes and contradict the prevailing concept that it is a chronic disease, adding that the “diabetes drugs can be eliminated” in more than 60% of patients by following healthy patterns and losing 15 kilos of weight.

Al-Aziri pointed out that the chances of overcoming Type 2 diabetes are greater among young people, those who have had diabetes for a short period, and children less than three years old who do not depend on ‘insulin’ for treatment.
