Bottles of local brew ready for saler

KUWAIT CITY, June 7: A 1987-born Indian expatriate was arrested for using the annex of a building near Bin Khaldoun Street in Hawally area for manufacturing liquor.

According to security sources, when Hawally Security Director Major General Abidine Al-Abidine received information about an Asian expatriate involved in illegal liquor business, a team of officers was formed to investigate.

After monitoring the location and confirming the information, a warrant was obtained from the Public Prosecution after which the annex was raided. Officers confiscated 500 bottles and 60 barrels of locally manufactured liquor. They arrested the suspect and checked his details to discover he is an Indian born in 1987.

He confessed to manufacturing and selling liquor. He was referred with the confiscated items to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action. The sources affirmed that securitymen, based on instructions of Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs Major General Ibrahim Al-Tarrah, will continue to pursue those who do not follow rules and laws of the country including the manufacturers and sellers of liquor.
