‘Lion of Hawally’ under probe in new financial corruption case

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 22: Sheikh Ahmad Al-Khalifa, aka ‘Lion of Hawally’ is being interrogated in a new case of financial corruption in the Interior Ministry other than the ‘hospitality expenses’, reports Al-Rai daily.

A reliable source said Al-Khalifa was Assistant Undersecretary for Finance and Administrative Affairs in the Interior Ministry before his retirement. He had also offered to return millions of dinars in a gesture of cooperation during investigations.

It is noteworthy to mention that the Central Bank of Kuwait has issued decisions to freeze at least 15 bank accounts of people, companies and shops in a new case after two members of the Interior Ministry were arrested for completing suspicious money transfers
