KUWAIT CITY, April 7: Two days after the maximum cost of recruiting domestic workers was fixed at KD 990, as well as KD 330 was fixed as the cost of hiring when a sponsor receives passport of the worker, Minister of Commerce and Industry Khalid Nasser Al-Roudhan issued a decision to revoke licenses of 116 violating domestic labor offices.

According to a source, the decision was taken after the ministry received a letter from Ministry of Interior, informing it about some violations that were recorded in this regard. He affirmed that the ministry will continue to follow up the execution of the decision concerning the recruitment costs, and will not allow anyone to increase them.

The source stressed that legal procedures will be taken against those who violate the decision, hinting that the ministry may open door for foreign companies to recruit domestic workers as a way of introducing real competition which will bring down the costs.
