Lest Ankara demand Makkah and Madinah

THE decision-makers in Ankara, in their minds, never lost their ambitions in the Arab world, especially in the past 20 years. This was manifested in the Syrian civil war, as Turkey entered the line of feeding terrorist armed groups, and launched a war against the Kurds in an effort to repeat the Armenian massacre in the early 20th century.

It is politically foolish for any Arabs to support the Turkish army’s attempts to extend its control over any Syrian region, especially in the north adjacent to the Alexandroni Brigade province which Turkey has occupied and annexed, while keeping its eyes open for the rest of the land in order to regain its Ottoman glory.

In this regard, all malicious considerations must fall, as the Iranian occupation cannot be replaced by a Turkish one, even if some have played on the ideology of sectarianism, ie replacing Persian Shiite with the Turkish Sunni, both of which play the same role with the aim of changing the geographical and cultural realities of the Arab world.

Therefore, the two dangers are equal, and this necessitates confronting the schemers with the same force, because any negligence in this regard means paving way for the Turkish appetite to open up to further expansion, given that the possibility of Ankara to demand Makkah and Madinah is not far-fetched at all, similar to what the Mullahs regime did, after it had its grip on Idlib in Syria.

We said before and we reiterate today – the bet of some Arabs to overthrow the Syrian regime was one of their major political mistakes.

Those who sought this did not read the popular equation carefully. They did not see the fact that the Syrian regime has its extensions within all the social components – the Sunni, Alawite and other minorities. There is a significant number of Syrians who do not want to lose their country’s security and stability, due to which they stood with their regime and supported it.

Indeed, the Syrians have the right to choose who should govern them; this is their right like the rest of the nations of the world.

However, the millions of Syrians who have been displaced to various parts of the earth do not represent the winning card in the hands of any country to pressurize the regime. They are nothing but a blackmail tool in the hands of some countries, especially Turkey against Europe.

From the start, the government of the Justice and Development Party in Turkey used this against the European Union, once to facilitate its European Union membership, and other times to either obtain funds or support its military role in Syria to achieve its ambitions.

The Europeans said their word to Ankara, which is – “The threat of refugee influx will not lead to the acceptance of its terms. Leaving the European-Turkish agreement signed in March 2016 on refugees will not make the old continent submissive”.

As a result of that, the Turkish government today is like someone who has fallen between two millstones, and is looking for a way out to save itself.

Therefore, if Turkey enters Idlib and occupies it, it will undoubtedly experience the ecstasy of victory and seek more Arab expansion. Therefore, the current war seems to be between Turkey and the Syrian regime, but in the actual essence, it is a Turkish war against all Arabs … and we wonder whether the Arabs will realize this?
