Late Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah shooting championship concludes

Winners celebrate on the podium with the organisers

KUWAIT CITY, April 21: Late Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah shooting cup came to a close with the honoring of winners, males and females.

In the closing ceremony, head of Kuwait Shooting Sport Club (KSSC) Duaij Al-Otaibi said the championship witnessed strong competitions amongst shooters from Bahrain, the UAE and Kuwait.

He told reporters that Kuwait’s shooter Mansour Al-Rashidi was honored for winning the gold Skeet medal at the last world shooting championship.

He said that Al-Rashidi has qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, adding he was the second shooter to qualify after Abdelrahman Al-Faihan who cruised into this event at the Trap contest.

The Kuwaiti shooters made these achievements through the support by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

Al-Otaibi lauded the backing of honorary president of the KSSC Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah and his keenness on continuing this event.

Both Al-Rashidi and Al-Faihan won the first positions at Skeet and Trap competitions of this tournament, which featured male and female shooters from Kuwait, the UAE and Bahrain. Bahrain’s shooter Husein Ali obtained the 10 meter air rifle title, while Kuwait’s shooter Othman Al-Filakawi won the first position in the 10 meter rifle.

Kuwait’s National Guard shooter Mishref Nizal was granted the title of the 50 meter rifle prone, while Bahrain’s Abdul-Majed Jomaa came first in the 50 meter rifle.

Kuwait club’s shooter Sara Al-Hawal won the first place at the Trap contest, while her compatriot Fatma Al-Zoabi came first in the Skeet game.

Also, Kuwait club’s Marwa Al-Omairi won the title of the air gun contest, while her compatriot Hozama Al-Boghli ranked first in the air pistol game. (KUNA)
