Large number of unemployed Kuwaiti engineers ‘unjustifiable’

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 17: Chairman of Kuwait Engineers Society Eng Faisal Al-Attal expressed his disappointment about the large number of unemployed Kuwaiti engineers who have been on the government’s waiting list for employment for many years, reports Al-Qabas daily. He said their numbers reached 2,000 recently, indicating that unemployment has pushed many of them to take up jobs such as call center agents which are not of their fields of specialty.

Al-Attal revealed that the percentage of Kuwaiti engineers working in the private sector does not exceed 4 percent, stressing that the continuation of such a situation is not acceptable at all. He stressed the urgent need for Kuwaitization of engineers in order to curb unemployment among Kuwaiti engineers and to alleviate the suffering of those who are waiting for jobs.
