Kuwait’s star Al-Mousawi tops WBT-PBA qualification ranking

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 3: Kuwait’s bowling star Mustafa Al-Mousawi stroke very hard to come on top in the qualification ranking of the 13th WBT-PBA Kuwait International Open 2019, which will continue until Nov 6 at the Kuwait Bowling Center in Salmiya.

Reaching the 10th squad out of 22 squad, Al-Mousawi succeeded in achieving the best scores in the fifth squad until the tenth one, collecting 1,335 points out of 1,500 at an average of 276 points per round, putting him ahead of Qatar’s Abdul-Rahman Al-Jaidah with 1,311 points.

Two-time US bowling champion Greg Young came third with 1,288 points, followed by England’s bowling legend Dominic Barrett with 1,257 points, and then Thailand’s Napat Buspanikonkul with 1,255 points. It is worth mentioning that the top 10 of the qualifiers until the 10th squad consists of three Kuwaitis – Ayad Al-Omairi (8th), Saleh Habib (9th) and Abdullah Ahmad (10th).

The 2017 runner-up Ildemaro Ruiz from Venezuela, who was in the lead from the 5th squad dropped to 22nd position with 1,110 points. This indicates the intensity of the competition especially in the presence of elites and world champions who are battling out to win the prizes worth $218,000 of which $50,000 will go to the top winner.

Today will mark the end of the qualification squads, which will be followed by three rounds that will determine the top three winners.
