Kuwait’s Al-Sarheed ‘advances’ at Asian Junior Boxing Championship

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 6: The semifinal round of the Asian Boxing Championship for juniors will kick off on Wednesday, Aug 7. The final round for all weight categories will be held on Thursday. The championship is being held at Kuwait Sporting Club under the patronage of Chairman of Olympic Committee of Kuwait Sheikh Fahd Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

Kuwait’s national team left the competition early due to lack of experience except for Abdulaziz Al-Sarheed who managed to reach the final round in the weight category of 67 kilograms. He will face Uzbek boxer Kamedoliv Shakbos, and the winner will enter the finals.

The recently-held competitions witnessed good results from boxers of both East Asia and Central Asia.

Shabab Al-Abdullah and Meshal Al-Enezi were defeated in the matches of weight category of 43 kilograms. Bader Shabab and Rashed Abdullah left the competition after they were defeated in the matches of weight categories 52 kilograms and 85 kilograms respectively.

The matches on the third day of the championship witnessed the victory of Uzbek boxer Abdul Rasoulov after he defeated Kazakh boxer Tokarev in the weight category of 33-35 kilograms.

 In the competitions of 40 kilograms weight category, Afghan boxer Mohammad Younus defeated the Emirati boxer Mohammad Al-Zahemi, Turcoman boxer Urazbev defeated Sri Lankan boxer Shrimal, Uzbek boxer Tolaganov defeated Syrian boxer Muhammad Ali, Kazakh boxer Selkhan Amir defeated Indian boxer Nero.

Thai boxer Feset defeated Tajik boxer Rustomov in the competition of 46 kilograms weight category.

In the competitions of 37 kilograms weight category, Indian boxer Aryan defeated a boxer from the Philippines Joshua, Kazakh boxer Babakov defeated Jordanian boxer Auss Muhammad, Tajik boxer Jofrov defeated Kazakh boxer Danyarov, and Uzbek boxer Huga defeated Iraqi boxer Abbas Fadhel.

In the competitions of 43 kilograms weight category, Kuwaiti boxer Shabab Al-Abdullah was defeated by Turcoman boxer Niormeradov, Kuwaiti boxer Meshal Al-Enezi was defeated by Kazakh boxer Abdu Ada, and Uzbek boxer Abdulrasolov defeated Indian boxer Robish.

Kazakh boxer Bakhteyar defeated Syrian boxer Ammar Rababah, Uzbek boxer Lasyaz Bek defeated Nepalese boxer Sherba, Jordanian boxer Zaid Nedal defeated Tajik boxer Foselov, and Indian boxer Fenai defeated Iranian boxer Melad Sevar in the competitions of 49 kilograms weight category.
