Kuwaiti security chief holds talks in Singapore on issues of joint concern

KUWAIT CITY, June 3, (KUNA): Chief of the National Security Bureau Sheikh Thamer Ali Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, currently on a visit to Singapore with other officials, discussed in on Friday with Singaporean Minister of State for Defense and Foreign Affairs Dr Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman issues of joint concern for the two friendly countries.

The bureau said in a statement, released in Kuwait, that Sheikh Thamer conveyed to Minister Dr Bin Osman, during the meeting, attended by the State of Kuwait Ambassador to Singapore Yaqoub Al-Sanad and other visiting Singaporean officials, greetings of the First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah. Sheikh Thamer and his delegation arrived in Singapore, on Thursday, to take part in the Shangri-La Dialogue (SLD), scheduled on June 3-5.

It is organized by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS). The chief of the Kuwaiti security bureau will address various issues during his participation in the gathering; namely complex security challenges, revamping military capacities with latest technology, managing military competition in Asia, challenges pertaining to resolving strifes, security challenges emanating from illegal immigration, cooperation against terrorism, determining common interests in the virtual world, electronic and cyber security.

Kuwait, a key member of the international community, takes part in this convention the first time. It is participating in the event in response to an invitation from the IISS, which organized over the past 12 years the annual Manama Dialogue Summit. Kuwait is also a key participant in this top-level gathering.
