KUWAIT, July 30: The World Day Day against Trafficking in Persons is a universal declaration by all countries and national human rights institutions on importance of raising awareness over this crime, a Kuwaiti official said Thursday.


Jassem Al-Mubaraki, Chairman of Kuwait Diwan for Human Rights, said the UN General Assembly approved the World Day in a resolution, which marked July 30, aimed at raising social awareness on importance of protecting rights of victims of human trafficking.


Al-Mubaraki called also for raising awareness about social and economic impacts of human trafficking.


The State of Kuwait, he added was among the first countries ratifying the UN agreement on trans-national organized crime and its two protocols.
Al-Mubaraki said Kuwait Diwan for Human Rights was following the implementation of constitution and international treaties, spreading awareness over human trafficking and following public opinion cases related to torture, discrimination and human trafficking.(KUNA)
