Kuwaiti missions abroad celebrate national days – Fests shed light on flourishing global ties

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 26, (KUNA): Kuwait diplomatic missions abroad have proceeded with celebrations marking the Gulf country’s 55th National Day and the 25th Liberation Day underlining its marked progress due to devotion of the people and the top leaders and shedding light on good ties with various nations of the globe.

The Kuwaiti Ambassador to France Sami Al-Sulaiman led a broad reception on the occasion, grouping diplomats, dignitaries, Kuwaiti students, citizens and diplomats. He addressed congratulations to the top leaders, namely His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah as well as the Kuwaiti people on the national days.

The occasions have encompassed two major events in the history of the State of Kuwait; the Independence Day in 1961 and the anniversary of the liberation from the flagrant “Saddami” aggression on the country in 1991, when Kuwait drew broad and unprecedented global solidarity, the ambassador said in a statement to KUNA. He also lauded the deep-rooted Kuwaiti-French ties.

In Moscow, the Kuwaiti mission held an identical reception, comprising senior Russian officials. The Ambassador, Abdulaziz Al-Adwani, in a statement to KUNA, congratulated the top leaders on the happy occasion. “We celebrate our national anniversaries every year as a gratitude to the ancestors who had labored hard under difficult conditions.

“They are credited for the prosperity, security and safety we have been enjoying now.” He also recalled the national martyrs and stressed on the necessity to maintain national unity, amid unstable regional conditions.

In Kuala Lumpur, the Ambassador Saad Al-Asousi led a reception marking the occasions. He also congratulated the top leaders, namely His Highness the Amir, lauding His Highness for his sagacious leadership of the country, as well as the people’s solidarity with the leaders.

A similar activity was held by the mission in Djibouti, where the top local leaders showed up for the national occasions of the State of Kuwait.

In London, the Ambassador Khaled Abdulaziz Al-Duwaisan held a reception, hosting British officials and dignitaries. The ambassador, who expressed congratulations to Kuwait top leaders, noted that Kuwait and Britain have been linked with deeply-rooted relations, also affirming that the Kuwaitis would not forget the British support for the country at hard times.

In Mumbai, the Kuwaiti Consulate held an identical reception, hosting local, Arab and Gulf diplomats. The General Consul in Mumbai, Mansour Al-Ulaimi, expressed congratulations to the senior leaders, namely His Highness the Amir.

The embassy in Ghana also held a similar activity. The Ambassador Mohammad Al-Failakawi hosted senior government officials, congratulated the top leaders of Kuwait and addressed attendees about the ties with Ghana dating back to 1974.

In Dubai, the local customs department held a ceremony to express good wishes to Kuwait on the occasion.

In Islamabad, the Ambassador Nawaf Abdulaziz Al-Enezi hosted eminent figures. He extended sincere felicitation to His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince and to the Government and the people of the State of Kuwait.

The Kuwaiti envoy said, “The historic relations between the State of Kuwait and Islamic Republic of Pakistan are perfect models that can be followed by other countries, based on mutual respect and cooperation in all fields and areas.” He underlined Pakistan’s support for Kuwait in the face of the Iraqi aggression in 1990. Pakistani ministers, senators, ambassadors of different countries, president of Pakistan side of Kashmir and other high officials joined the celebration ceremony showcasing the Kuwait traditions.

In Bosnia-Herzegovina, the Kuwaiti diplomatic mission held a similar reception. Ambassador Nasser Al-Mutairi addressed the attendees, noting the marked development of Kuwait over the past years and the tremendous efforts, exerted by the leaders for sake of making the country occupy a stature in the civilized world. He lauded the Kuwait-Bosnian ties and pledged to exert further effort to enhance the mutual cooperation in various sectors.

In Brunei, the Ambassador Dr Fahad Al-Thafiri organized a gathering hosting officials, diplomats and eminent personalities. He lauded on the national occasions the distinctive and brotherly ties between Kuwait and Brunei. He also expressed good wishes to Kuwait top leaders on the national days.

Earlier, the Kuwaiti Consulate General in Irbil, Iraq, and Los Angeles, USA, celebrated the national days, with receptions attended by a host of senior officials and diplomats.

In Irbil, Kuwaiti Consul General Dr Omar Al-Kandari extended his national holidays’ greetings to His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince and His Highness the Premier. Al-Kandari stressed, during the celebration, that Kuwait is keen on strengthening ties with Iraq, as it is evident in the opening of Kuwaiti diplomatic missions in Baghdad, Basra and Irbil. He added that Kuwait has made a big stride in improving ties with the Iraqi Kurdistan.

“Kuwait respects the sovereignty of Kurdistan,” he said, hoping it would win the fight against the so-called Islamic state (IS).

In Los Angeles, Kuwaiti Consul General Ambassador Abdulatif Ali Al-Yahya greeted Kuwaiti leadership and the people, during a similar celebration that was attended by many social and business figures as well as Kuwaiti students. He wished prosperity, security and safety to the Gulf country.

Similarly in Benin, the Kuwaiti embassy held a reception to mark the national holidays, which was attended by Benin’s Foreign Minister Saliou Akadiri and top state officials. Kuwaiti Ambassador Dr Faisal Suleiman Al-Musailim relayed his greetings to the Kuwaiti leadership and the Kuwaiti people and expressed appreciation to the attendees who shared the joy of celebrating these national holidays.

In Cairo, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi greeted Kuwaiti leadership and the people on national days, wishing the Gulf country more advancement. These greetings were relayed to Kuwaiti Ambassador to Cairo Salem Al-Zamanan from Al-Sisi’s Presidential Secretary Ahmed Al-Ansari. Bilateral ties were discussed during the meeting.

The occasions were also celebrated by the Kuwaiti missions in New York, Madrid, Doha, Khartoum, Jeddah, Ottawa and Amman. The missions released statements commemorating the country’s national celebrations, noting that the huge turnout at the missions’ celebration was evident of Kuwait’s aloft status amongst nations.

The Kuwaiti diplomats also stressed that this year’s celebrations were unique due to their coincidence with their country’s ongoing commemoration of the UN honoring of His Highness the Amir as a “Humanitarian Leader.” They also said that they coincided with the UN honoring of Kuwait as a “Humanitarian Center”.

The Ambassadors and diplomats took the chance to express their deepest gratitude towards those attending the celebrations, affirming that Kuwait will extend its hand of cooperation with all friends around the globe.

The foreign diplomats and officials attending the celebrations congratulated Kuwait on the advent of its national days, stressing that their countries were eager to develop relations with the Gulf State.
