KUWAIT CITY, Aug 18: A Kuwaiti citizen has been detained in prison for ten days for blackmailing Kuwaiti girls on social media, reports Al- Shahed daily. When officers from the Cyber Crime Division received complaints from the girls about being blackmailed by the man, they launched investigations and managed to find and arrest the suspect.
Meanwhile, a gang of Asian expatriates have been arrested for engaging in several illicit activities including stealing and selling batteries used in international telecommunication devices, gambling and running brothels.
When securitymen received information about the activities of the gang, they set up a trap and managed to arrest the members in possession of the stolen batteries, gambling tools and pornographic materials. The suspects have been referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action.
Egyptian mugged: An unknown individual waylaid an Egyptian expatriate in Salmiya area and robbed him of his mobile phone and wallet, which contained his bank cards and money, reports Al-Rai daily. According to security sources, the victim lodged a complaint at Salmiya Police Station against the unknown suspect, explaining that he was walking down a street in Salmiya area when a man armed with a knife stopped him and hit him. He then stole his wallet and mobile phone and fled from the location in his vehicle.
The victim revealed that prior to the incident he had withdrawn some money from the bank, indicating that the suspect might have been following him after he left the bank. He provided securitymen with the description of the suspect and his vehicle. A case was registered and investigations have been launched to find and arrest the suspect
