Kuwaiti, Bangladeshi duo held in visa trafficking

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 8: The Jahra police have taken into custody a 20-year-old Kuwaiti and two Bangladeshis for trafficking in visas and selling each visa for KD 1,000, reports Al-Rai daily. The daily added, as soon as the Deputy Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department in the Jahra Governorate received information about the activities of the three suspects, the authorities sent a police mole to strike a deal for six visas. During negotiations the suspects asked the police agent to come with the money at an agreed place — a café in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh. Police then lay in wait for the suspects and caught them red-handed while receiving the money. During interrogation the suspects have admitted to the charge. They have been handed over to the concerned authority.

Bogus office busted: Officers from Residency Affairs Department arrested a gang of seven individuals, among them five Ethiopian women, for running bogus domestic recruitment agency and trafficking in persons.

The suspects are said to have cheated several Kuwaitis, reports Al-Seyassah daily. Security sources said the suspects were arrested upon instructions from the Assistant Undersecretary for Citizenship and Passports in the Interior Ministry Major General Sheikh Mazen Al-Jarah after receiving information about illegal activities of the suspects. They were referred to concerned authorities for further investigation.

The Interior Ministry represented by Residency Affairs Sector appeals to the general public to deal with licensed domestic agencies to avoid cheating. It also called on those with information about bogus manpower agencies to call 112.

Kuwaiti arrested: An Egyptian expatriate who was wanted by law for a civil case involving a sum of KD 273 was arrested in Firdous area, says Al-Seyassah. According to security sources, securitymen were patrolling Firdous area when they stopped an Egyptian expatriate and checked his details to discover he is wanted by law for a civil case.

He was arrested and referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action against him. Meanwhile, a Kuwaiti citizen who was wanted by law for a kidnapping case for which he was sentenced to three-year imprisonment with hard labor was arrested and referred to the concerned authorities
