Kuwaiti athletes win two gold, one silver medals

KONYA, Turkey, Aug 11: Kuwaiti shooters Abdulrahman Al-Faihan and Isa Al-Zankawi won Thursday two gold medals in the “Trap” and Discus throw contests respectively at the fifth Islamic solidarity games hosted by the Turkish city of Konya. Their compatriot Talal Al-Rashidi obtained the silver in the “Trap” of the games, which will run until 18 August.

Earlier, Kuwaiti Shooter Sarah Al-Huwal won the gold medal in female Single “Trap” competition. Kuwaiti national team player for cycling, Sayed Jaafar Al-Ali, won Thursday the silver medal in the race against time team competition of the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya, Turkiye. Al-Ali completed the race in 30:55:29 minutes, and snatched the second place.

Kuwait is participating in the games with 60 male and female athletes vying in various games including karate, swimming, judo and shooting as well as others. The games will run until August 18 with the participation of about 6,000 athletes of more than 50 Islamic countries (KUNA)
