Kuwaiti admits committing 20 thefts

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 29: The Abu Halifa police have arrested a Kuwaiti for committing about 20 thefts, in Al- Riqqa, Al-Fahaheel, Al-Ahmadi, Al-Mangaf and Rumaithiya areas, reports Al-Anba daily. The thief who is in his 30s is an ex-convict and he was chased and arrested by police when he tried to get away from police. At the time of his arrest, he was accompanied by a Kuwaiti juvenile. Police found in his possession 20 smart cell phones (Iphone) which he had stolen from a store, and during interrogation he said he was in the process of selling the phones to one of the stores in Mangaf area.

A security source said investigations are continuing to determine the areas where he committed the thefts and compare the reports with thefts registered with the police stations. The source said the juvenile was released after his father was summoned and informed that he was caught in the company of the ‘thief’. According to a security source, the arrest came after the Abu Halifa police were informed about the suspect’s activity and a search and arrest warrant was issued against him. After his arrest he admitted to committing 20 thefts – breaking into homes, vehicles and shops – and stealing whatever he could lay his hands on.
