KUWAIT CITY, Nov 14: The Misdemeanors Section in the Court of Appeals nullified the ruling of the First Instance Court, which sentenced a citizen to one year in prison for swindling a female compatriot. The higher court acquitted the citizen who had earlier been charged of swindling the woman as he allegedly charged about KD5,000 for helping her break free from a witch’s spell.

Case files indicate that the victim told her friend that she was bewitched and the friend advised her to go to the accused for treatment at a fee of KD2,000. The friend told her later that the accused succeeded in treating her, but the spell transferred to him. He demanded for KD3,000 because he needed to undergo treatment as well.
