KUWAIT CITY, March 20: The Criminal Court acquitted a Kuwaiti citizen in his 40s who was accused of peddling “Chemical” drug and hashish. The court also refrained from pronouncing penalty for charges of addiction after the lab result indicated the level of intoxicant in his blood was minimal. The defendant is an ex convict who was jailed for five years with hard labor in 1999 for a drug-related offense. The Public Prosecution had charged the suspect with possession of methamphetamine for sale and consumption, and peddling hashish. It stated that some drugs such as methamphetamine and diazepam can only be used if legally permitted. However, the defense counsel Lawyer Ena’am Haider said the police acted in error by searching her client without an official warrant of search and arrest, adding that whatever came out of such action should be regarded as null and void.By Jaber Al-Hamoud/Munaif Nayef Al-Seyassah Staff and Agencies
