DOHA, Oct 15, (KUNA): Kuwait sailing team won top podium positions in Qatar’s International Sailing Open Championship 2016 on Saturday. Abdullah Al-Qassar won the gold in the Optimist sailboat, while Ali Al-Failakawi came second in the Optimist under 12-year-old category.Ali Bu Hamad won the bronze in the Laser Radial, and Abdullah Al-Failakawi - the championship’s youngest racer - won the juniors competitions.Kuwait team manager Ahmad Al-Failakawi said he was proud of the Kuwaiti racers and their domination of the competitions.He said the team came to Qatar with determination to win medals.Speaking to KUNA, Al-Failakawi said the team would be preparing for Kuwait’s International Sailing Open, due on Oct 20-22.Qatar International Sailing Open kicked off at Katara beach with participation of 70 contestants from 10 countries: Kuwait, Qatar, Tunisia, Sudan, India, UK, Spain, Italy, Kazakhstan, and France.
