Al-Awaad bags two silver medals

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 6, (KUNA): Young Kuwaiti marksman Ahmad Al-Awaad clinched two silver medals for Kuwait on a day which saw the hosts also claim a gold at the Asian Shotgun and Air Rifle Championships on Tuesday.

Abdullah Al-Rashidi, Saud Habib and Mansour Al-Rashidi combined to win the men’s skeet event with 359 points struck, edging the United Arab Emirates and China by one point, who claimed silver and bronze respectively.

Al-Awaad missed out on adding another for his country in the skeet men’s juniors as he trailed Kazakhstan’s Alexandr Mukhamediyev to claim silver, with Xuyang Dou of China taking home a bronze.

The youngster came back to win another silver for his country alongside Hamad Al-Ablani and Saud Al-Hamli in men’s junior skeet team event, trailing to Kazakhstan.

No third placed team was registered in the event.

The day’s results also witnessed gold medals for China and India in the 10m air rifle mixed team and 10m air rifle mixed team junior events respectively.
