KUWAIT, Aug 19: Kuwaiti Minister of Finance Barrak Al-Sheetan reassured on Wednesday that civil servants’ pay and public subsidy would remain “untouched”.
“The government would ensure adequate cash liquidity for paying salaries,” the minister told KUNA, rebuffing social media allegations of liquidity shortage and budget deficit.
“I reassure that the wages of civil servants and subsidy would remain intact and we, as government, would ensure the provision of adequate liquidity for paying salaries,” he said.
However, the minister urged both government and parliament to work together to pass a state vision to redress the budget deficit and provide the required liquidity, given the country’s ongoing financial condition. (KUNA) —
