Kuwait University student falls to death, suicide not ruled out

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 13: The Kuwait University announced the death of a student who allegedly fell from the second floor of a university campus in Sabah Al-Salem University City (Shaddadiah), reports Al- Qabas daily. The university said in a statement that the university’s medical teams took all measures to rescue her, and preliminary investigations indicated that suicide cannot be ruled out.

She was reportedly rushed to the Ministry of Health hospital and was proclaimed dead. Informed sources told the daily attempts to rescue the 19-year-old female student and discourage her from committing suicide were unsuccessful, as the students who were present at the site tried to prevent her from jumping, but she jumped from the second floor.

The Director of Kuwait University, Dr. Youssef Al-Roumi, on behalf of the university family, offered his sincere condolences and sympathy to the student’s family, asking God Almighty to bless the soul of the deceased with his mercy, and to inspire her family and relatives to bear the loss with patience and solace. In this context, Dr. Shamlan Al-Qena’i, the head of the university’s faculty members’ association, called for the necessity of having a fully equipped temporary field hospital, ambulances, and even an air ambulance inside the Shaddiyah campus
