Kuwait to buy $445 mln worth ‘vehicles’ from US

KUWAIT CITY, July 4: The US State Department approved the sale to Kuwait of heavy tactical vehicles worth $445 million, reports Al-Seyassah daily. According to the ‘govconwire’ website, these vehicles are manufactured by the American company “Oshkosh Defense”. The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency indicated that the deal includes the purchase of 517 tactical trucks for extended heavy mobility and heavy equipment carriers to support the transport of goods, vehicle recovery and resupply operations for the Kuwaiti land forces.

The agency added that the deal includes “fuel tanks and guided missile transport” trucks, in addition to flatbed stands for weapons, commercial trailers, and loading system trailers. The proposed deal includes a request to deploy up to 15 contract employees to provide training, fleet support, program management, and facility construction supervision services to Kuwait over a period of 5 years.
