Kuwait plans to set up family counselling centers: minister

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 21, (KUNA): Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Al-Sabeeh announced on Saturday that the Supreme Family Council decided during a meeting today to set up family counselling centers to help in resolving couples’ problems and guiding them ahead of bonding.

The council’s meeting addressed relevant regulations, in light of international treaties on such social issues and forming special teams to pave way for mapping out a viable strategy to promote family wellness, she indicated in a statement after the meeting that grouped senior officials.

An agreement was reached during the meeting on establishing centers for family counselling and custody as well as drafting regulations compatible with international criteria, the minister said, indicating the approach for limiting family break-ups, securing care for the kids, the youth, the women and other family members. The conferees, including Education Minister Dr Mohammad Al Fares and Health Minister Dr Jamal Al-Harbi, decided to organize guidance courses for singles to be married. They also approved a proposal to set up a special website featuring the Council’s tasks, objectives and messages.
