ABU DHABI, March 22, (KUNA): Kuwait’s Bader Al-Munaifion Sunday finished second place in the trap competition at the World Shooting Para Sport World Cup in the United Arab Emirates’ oasis city of Al-Ain, as the competition reaches its halfway stage. The Kuwaiti para shooter, with a total of 22, was held off by gold medalist Roman Ponomarenko of Russia, while the bronze medal went to Ponomarenko’s compatriot Aleksei Pasternak.
Al-Munaifi’s impressive showing was a testament to how far the sport of Paralympic shooting has come in Kuwait, Duaij Al-Otaibi, the chief of the country’s shooting federation, told KUNA via phone. In comments after the highly competitive outing, the Kuwaiti Paralympic athlete expressed his pride over the accomplishment, saying he was ecstatic to have been given the chance to represent his homeland.
