Kuwait lead GCC fencing championship

Kuwait led the Gulf Fencing Championship 2017 after winning three gold medals, two silver and three bronze over the past two days.

Mishal Al-Shimali, head of the Kuwaiti team, told KUNA three gold medals have been clinched in the junior individual and team categories.

Humoud Al-Shamlan won the junior Sabre fight and Yusuf Al-Kharshan won the fight in the individual Epee, said Al-Shimali.

Al-Kharshan, Ahmad Al-Mutairi, Ali Al-Fadhli and Ali Asadullah won the Epee team competition, but Abdulaziz Al-Duaij won the silver in the Sabre junior individual fight.

Mohammad Yaqoub won the junior Foil fight, he said.

The Kuwaiti team also won bronze of the Epee team competition, and Sabre team fight, said Al-Shimali.

Al-Shimali said the organizing committee of the championship approved Kuwait’s request to hoist Kuwait’s flag. (KUNA)
