‘Kuwait keen on empowering women in the health sector’

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 13, (KUNA): Assistant Undersecretary of the Health Ministry Dr Majida Al-Qattan has affirmed the significant achievements of the Kuwaiti health sector in empowering women. Al-Qattan made her remarks in a press statement Monday after meeting with Kamala Chandrakirana, Vice- President of UN Working Group on Discrimination Against Women, and her accompanying delegation. She also reiterated the ministry’s keenness on introducing programs and projects that support women’s health in a way that reflects positively on the health of the whole society.

The meeting reviewed Kuwait’s achievements in backing and empowering women in the health field, laws and regulations that support women health, and health services provided to women by the country, she said, adding that all indications and data on women health in Kuwait prove the significance of the Kuwaiti health system.

Meanwhile, the UN visiting team praised Kuwait’s efforts in enhancing women health in accordance with the recommendations of UN and international organizations to strengthen the principles of social justice and equality in the society, Al-Qattan noted
