Kuwait has no specific laws to protect data – lags behind in cyber-security

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 27: According to a study conducted by Global System for Mobile Telecommunications, Kuwait is lagging in the field of cyber-security compared to the remaining GCC countries, reports Al- Rai daily.

Stressing that there are no specific laws to protect data in Kuwait, the study indicated that there have been limited verdicts related to cyber-security law and e-transactions.

It stated that developments in data protection are expected in the future. As per the study, Kuwait is in 3rd place within the Arabian Gulf region in terms of subscription rates for telecommunication services, which is 78 percent as of end of first half of this year.

Qatar and the United Arab Emirates share the first place with 85 percent, and Bahrain takes second place with 80 percent.
