DOHA, Oct 21, (KUNA): Kuwait national team lost 32-36 to South Korea at Asian men’s handball Tokyo 2020 qualifier.

In the first half, South Korea’s team controlled the game, while the Kuwaiti players tried to defend their net. The game ended 20-16 in favor of South Koreans.

In the second half, the Kuwaiti players minimized the goal differences into two, and performed well against the Koreans, but the half also ended 36-32 in favor of the South Korean team.

Speaking to KUNA following the match, coach of the Kuwait team Fahad Al-Hajri said the Kuwaiti players benefited from the game, which will help them avoid their mistakes.

He noted that the players made a strong game and an advanced level after their first game against Bahrain.

He said the injuries of Mohammad Al-Gharbali and Ali Saqr contributed to the Kuwaiti loss against South Korea’s team.

He pointed out that all games in this group are difficult, saying that there is still a change to the Kuwaiti team to qualify for the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, Bahrain defatted Iran today, topping the group with four points, while Iran’s team have two points.

The qualifiers have two groups; Group A which includes Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong and India.

Group B contains Kuwait, Bahrain, S. Korea and Iran. The competition kicked off on Saturday and will run over 10 days.
