Kuwait continue to dominate Amir’s International Shooting GP – Al-Faihan, Al-Rashidi claim gold & bronze

KUWAIT CITY, March 5:  Kuwait continues to dominate His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Fifth International Shooting Grand Prix (Shotgun), as it won gold and bronze medals on the second day.

The gold medal came through a strong win by AbdulRahman Al-Faihan in the Trap Men Category (125 targets), followed by Lebanese Waleed Al-Najjar with silver and Talal Al-Tarqi Al-Rashidi with bronze.

Kuwait took the fourth and fifth positions through Saad Al-Hubaida and Khaled Al-Mudif respectively, while the sixth position was taken by Egyptian Ahmad Qamar.

Chairperson of Kuwait and Arab Shooting Federations Eng Dueij Al-Otaibi awarded the medals to the first three placers.

Consequently, Kuwait tops the list of medals with two gold, one silver and one bronze, followed by Lebanon with a silver, whereas Egypt comes third with a bronze.

Meanwhile, medals will be distributed on the fifth day of the tournament, during the final round of the Skeet Competition (125 targets) which will start at 13:00 hours and on the same day there will be official training session for men’s double trap – the last competition of the tournament which will conclude on March 8, 2016.

In his press interview, Head of Egypt’s shooting delegation Major General Shareef Al-Simahi praised the level of participation and performance in the event for both the Arab and foreign shooters.  He asserted the tournament is an added value for the shooters due to the high level of general performance as reflected in the points they have achieved so far.

He pointed out the tournament is considered an opportunity for the shooters to prepare themselves for future achievements in international and Olympics levels.

He said Egypt Shooting Federation is striving to have a new generation of shooters in the near future, so it included new shooters in this year’s tournament in order to polish their talents and to introduce them to the atmosphere of international participation. Egypt has participated in every tournament, whether in pistol or shotgun tournaments.

He concluded by highlighting the professional manner by which the tournament is organized, in addition to the fact that Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex is a source of pride for all Arabs due to its high-quality facilities which encourage stiff competition atmosphere among the participating shooters.
