Kuwait Airways makes changes to its weight and luggage rules – KPC grants SAB access to Oracle system

KUWAIT CITY, May 17: Kuwait Airways Corporation (KAC) made vital changes to its rules on the number and weight of luggage for all passengers, reports Al-Anba daily. According to the circular — a copy of which was obtained by the daily, the changes will be implemented from May 16 to Oct 31. The circular states that passengers — except those coming from the USA, France, Switzerland and Austria, will be allowed to carry two suitcases provided the weight of each suitcase is 23 kgs for those on economy seats and 32 kgs for those in business class.

The circular added that passengers who carry more than the allowed weight will pay additional fees, KD 60 for the second extra piece and KD 100 for the third piece.

Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) and its subsidiaries have granted the State Audit Bureau (SAB) access to its Oracle system which contains the management documents and financial statements of petroleum companies, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources.

Sources disclosed the corporation took this step for the first time in its history while the bureau aims to address communication gaps, implement effective supervision system, and reduce paper work and human errors in order to raise the performance level.

Assistant Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs in the Ministry of Public Works Hamad Ghareeb said the excellent job performance bonuses for fiscal 2015/2016 were deposited into the bank accounts of deserving employees on Tuesday, reports Al-Anba daily.

Ghareeb explained this step was taken after Minister of Public Works and State Minister for National Assembly Affairs Dr Ali Al-Omair issued a decision on granting the bonus to 8,000 out of 13,000 employees. He said this is in accordance with the Civil Service Commission (CSC) Decision No. 9/2010 on the conditions for receiving the bonus. He added the total amount of the bonus for fiscal 2015/2016 reached KD 5,950,000.

The Board of Directors of the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) will meet before Ramadan to discuss the following: report on its work last year, ways to address obstacles, annual report on the recruitment of foreign workers, and comparative report on the arrival and departure of workers, reliable sources told Al-Anba daily.

Sources revealed the authority’s agenda include the proposal to amend decisions on the recruitment of foreign workers in view of the report of the Higher Committee on Studying the Population Structure.
