KNPC’s rate of Kuwaitization is almost 88% – ‘Total workforce hits 6,260 workers’

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 15: CEO of the Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) Waleed Al-Bader revealed that the company has employed 217 new employees, including 192 Kuwaitis, during the 2019/2020 fiscal year, affirming that this step was based on the company’s constant keenness to be an attractive institution for national workers, reports Al-Anba daily. He said, “One of the positive indicators is also that 73 employees completed the structured work training program (SOJT) during this year. This brings the total number of those who passed the training program since establishment of the program to 800 employees. It indicates that we now have an efficient cadre with specialized technical and practical skills.

This makes us confident that our new facilities will be managed by honest and capable hands”. In the annual report of KNPC for the 2019/2020 fiscal year, Al-Bader explained that the total workforce in the company, both operational and non-operational, has reached 6,260 employees. All of the company’s employees undergo internal and external training courses that are compatible with functional needs.

The number of local courses reached 215, in which 2,800 employees participated. The number of external courses was 512, in which more than a thousand employees participated. Several courses were held at the Petroleum Training Center, in which 3,500 employees participated. Al-Bader affirmed that the number of Kuwaiti employees in the company as of the end of the fiscal year reached 5,500, which is equivalent to 87.9 percent of the total workforce, adding that this is a decrease of nine employees from the previous fiscal year. He added that 180 holders of diploma in Refinery Operating Technology have been appointed.
