KIPCO to host social responsibility forum – Some of Kuwait’s leading firms to participate

KUWAIT CITY, March 20:  The Kuwait Projects Company (KIPCO Holding) and its subsidiaries have announced at a press conference they are hosting a social responsibility forum and workshop in cooperation with some of Kuwait’s leading companies in the private sector on Monday.

Participants in the forum will include the National Bank of Kuwait, Zain and Equate Petrochemical Company, who play a prominent role in the community. Al Rai Group will also be participating in the event as media partners.

The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) driven forum titled “Creating Partnership for a Better Society” will include a workshop dedicated to helping Kuwaiti charitable organizations improve their sponsorship exposure and fundraising capabilities. The workshop will also serve as a learning curve for local organizations by providing insight and advice towards approaching and communicating with companies within the private sector.

Select KIPCO Group subsidiaries which include KAMCO Investment Company, the American University of Kuwait and Burgan Bank, will participate in the first panel discussion about the cooperation between non-governmental organizations and companies within the private sector. The panel discussion will address some of the important issues related to both NGOs and the private sector in order to establish new partnerships and strengthen current ones.

The second panel discussion will involve the four non-KIPCO group companies previously mentioned in partnership the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, to discuss their roles in improving and developing the community through a variety of CSR activities. The panel discussion will cover the companies’ accumulated years of experience and knowledge in implementing socially responsible activities at times with the support of NGOs.

Manager of KIPCO’s CSR Department, Ms Abeer Al Omar stated that the workshop follows on from a successful predecessor held three years ago to ensure continuous outreach within the local community. She added that working side by side with multiple NGOs and associates in cooperation with the KIPCO Group subsidiaries, previous and current participating leaders, KIPCO and its subsidiaries have covered a variety of different sectors in Kuwait to ensure sustainable development within the community.

Ms Al Omar added further that “We were keen to invite a group of social media activists to attend this workshop to gain their support and highlight important issues in the community through the different social media platforms, which play a significant role in our society today. Having said that, we have organize this workshop titled “Creating Partnerships for a Better Society”, to strategically gather some of the most influential NGOs and associations under KIPCO’s social responsibility initiative to enhance the local community as a whole”.

She concluded by saying that KIPCO and its subsidiaries are delighted to share this experience with reputable companies such as Zain, NBK, Equate and Al Rai Media Group as their partners in the workshop. “Their level of consciousness and response calls attention towards the vital role that corporate social responsibility plays in the society”, she concluded.

The “Creating Partnerships for a Better Society” workshop is free of charge to all participating organizations, but due to space limitations, attendance at the event is by invitation only.
