KUWAIT CITY, Jan 25: The Misdemeanor Court has decided to refer the mother of Farah Akbar’s alleged murderer to the Criminal Court for publishing a video that infringed on the dignity of family of the victim, contained incorrect facts about her, and undermined her dignity, as per the complaint submitted by Lawyer Abdul Mohsen Al-Qattan.

The Public Prosecution had charged the accused with demeaning and insulting the victim and her family, an offense that qualifies as a libel. Earlier, the Criminal Court had issued a death sentence on the accused’s son who was charged with kidnapping and killing Farah Akbar last April.

The court ascribed its conviction to the accused with this punishment, because the charges attributed to him by the Public Prosecution was proven, taking into account certain evidence that included the testimony of the victim’s sister, the rest of the witnesses, and the investigation officer, as well as the statements of the victim’s daughter and her sister’s child. The evidence also included the confession of the accused during the prosecution’s investigations, the initial medical report and forensic report, the police inspection report of the vehicles involved in the incident, and the contents of the electronic storage units that included the visual recordings that proved part of the facts of the case.
