KCCI link between pvt sector and government

KUWAIT CITY, April 8: Shortly before voting to select 12 out of 19 board members for Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), some economy experts in the country said the sector has always supported government in proffering solutions to lingering economic problems, citing a recent comprehensive memo on economic reform in which the chamber spelt out wellthought out viewpoints, reports Al-Anba daily.

Board member Tareq Al-Mutawa affi rmed that KCCI assists private sector in all areas, and also serves as link between the sector and government. He made reference to the recent memo on economic reform, which KCCI presented, reiterating the sector plays a pivotal and vibrant role in supporting government if there is a problem.

He pointed out that the private sector is more proactive in solving problems and dealing with crises than the government through its exhaustive and detailed plans. In his comment, Chief Executive Officer of Al-Khalid Group of Companies Khalid Meshari Al-Khalid assured KCCI does not prevent the inclusion of new members and traders having brilliant ideas. He also said government is implementing some procedures for private sector participation to work out pending issues.

He stressed that objectives can be accomplished through privatization of some sectors to support the national economy. He explained that government is regarded as an entrepreneur, but in reality, a socialist; stressing that free trade and competitive trading should be encouraged.

Another member of the board Mohammad Kakouli said politicians should support the national economy to ensure equity and close link between economy and politics. He corroborated his colleagues, saying KCCI has always served as the pillar of economy and trade in general, and also the link between private and public sectors.
