Jail for embezzler

KUWAIT CITY, March 2: The Criminal Court chaired by Counselor Ahmad Al-Muqallad has sentenced an employee of the Ministry of Electricity and Water to seven years in prison with hard labour and ordered the convict to refund to the ministry KD 137,000, and fine him twice the amount, reports Al-Rai daily.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office had charged the accused of embezzling 137,000 dinars — the money collected by him from citizens in electricity and water bills and using the money for his benefit.
The court also sentenced a female employee to same jail term on same charge of embezzling 93 thousand dinars and demanded her to refund the embezzled money in double.
