Jail, fine for immoral content – Clips shared with users

KUWAIT CITY, April 10: The Criminal Court sentenced a citizen to five years in prison with labor and KD 5,000 fine. The court also ordered the confiscation and deletion of immoral content from his mobile device before referring civil aspect of the case to the relevant court. The Public Prosecution charged the suspect for misusing social media and mobile phone by deliberately sharing immoral messages with Instagram users. Lawyer Azbi Al-Namran representing the plaintiff requested the utmost penalty against the suspect to deter others from following the trend in future. He pointed out detectives from e-crimes unit have proven the account actually belongs to the suspect, and he admitted the crime.

Woman wins post: The Administrative Court cancelled Ministry of Interior’s decision not to appoint a Kuwaiti woman as legal researcher in the General Investigations Department. The court instead obliged the ministry to appoint her to the position. In a legal lawsuit filed by the defense counsel Lawyer Ali Al-Ali on behalf of his client, explained that she obtained Bachelor’s degree in Law with a very good GPA of 87.97 in 2012/2013. When the General Investigations Department announced its need for staff for the position of legal researcher, she and many others applied for job. However, she was surprised by the decision to appoint others but her name was omitted even though she had excelled in all requirements. She had lodged a complaint in this regard but to no avail, which led her to file the lawsuit. Lawyer Al-Ali urged the court to cancel the decision of the General Investigations Department and to ensure her appointment in the applied position.
