Jail, deportation for Syrian in certificate forgery

KUWAIT CITY, May 13: The Court of Appeals upheld the verdict issued by the Court of First Instance which sentenced a Syrian national to a jail term of two years and four months followed by deportation. He was accused of falsification of secondary level certificate equivalency that he presented to the Department of Private Education as authentic.

According to the case file, the Public Prosecution said the Syrian Embassy informed Department of Private Education at Ministry of Education and Higher Education that some certificates claimed to have been attested there contained false information. The notification was supported with a list of names of those suspected to have forged the certificates.
