Iran … going to ‘Hajj’ when people are returning

“THE current policies in the country will lead to the fall of the regime, especially its failed policies in Syria and Yemen.” These are the words of prominent Iranian political activist Faezeh Rafsanjani, the daughter of a well-known personality who played pivotal role in the “guardianship of Islamic jurist.”

Rafsanjani made the statement inside Iran, reflecting the deep crisis that the ‘peacock-pride’ Persians have reached.

Undoubtedly, this crisis has put Tehran on the confrontational line with its people who are in pain of hunger, oppression, economic collapse and dried up financial sources due to the international embargo. Ayatollah dragged Iran into this embargo for 39 years.

This is what Rafsanjani summarized when she said, “The protests which the country witnessed in late December are manifestations of the people’s discontent over the present condition.”

She advocated for referendum on the regime’s legitimacy which is diverting the attention of its people to the glory of military projects – whether in ballistic missiles or joining the military nuclear club.

An old adage applies to this situation: “Whoever tries something that has been tried spoils it.”

Evidently, the Mullah regime did not learn from the experiences of others in both the Arab and Muslim worlds, especially from Jamal Abdul-Nasser’s regime in Egypt.

This regime came to power while holding series of revolutionary slogans and false promises regarding progressiveness. He worked towards choking freedom of economy and practiced oppressive dictatorship.

Abdul-Nasser also used the same method of interfering in the affairs of Arab countries the way Tehran is doing today, starting with Morocco and then Kuwait where it launched destructive cells which carried out terrorist bombing operations.

Before that, he strived to depose the monarchy in Iraq and instigated war in Yemen; hoping the latter will become the head of the bridge towards controlling Saudi Arabia.

He engaged in four wars with Israel and he was defeated in all of these wars until Almighty Allah blessed Egypt with a man called Anwar Saddat who rescued the country from miseries and regained the occupied land through the Camp David agreement.

Anyone who has been observing Iran’s political demeanor since 1979 till date will find replicas of Jamal Abdul-Nasser’s methods, although the sectarian and creedal tools are different, replacing the pan-Arabism slogans.

Therefore, the currently shunned Persian State is the expected outcome which was tested earlier by Abdul-Nasser in Egypt.

Also, the North Korean experience, which will end in tomorrow’s summit in Singapore when its supreme leader Kim Jong-Un admits his country’s impotence and failure in front of US President Donald Trump. Hence, Kim Jong-Un will accept denuclearization in exchange for lifting economic sanctions.

Looking at this realistic experience, it seems the Mullah regime is heading to ‘Hajj’ when people are returning. All that it can do is learn the lesson properly in order to save itself from the long course of its people’s suffering.

The regime should realize that even if it can possess an atomic bomb, it will not use the bomb. This is due to the fact that the international community will never allow it to happen.

As it is for Iran to face bitter facts, the patience of its people has started to wear thin. Its regime can do nothing but follow the roadmap drawn by the United States of America, together with other countries in the world.
