KUWAIT CITY, Dec 26: Iran has asked Kuwait to lift restrictions on the transport of goods and remove trade and customs barriers in the way of bilateral trade between the two countries, reports Al-Rai daily. The official website of the Iranian government reported that Kuwaiti Foreign Affairs Minister Sheikh Dr Ahmad Al-Nasser met his Iranian counterpart Hussein Amir Abdollahian on the sidelines of the extraordinary meeting of foreign affairs ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on Afghanistan last week.

It said Abdollahian stressed the need to strengthen relations between the two countries, intensify efforts to remove consular barriers and ease the movement of citizens. Abdollahian pointed out that relations between the two countries are “based on brotherhood and good neighborliness;” while Sheikh Ahmad Al-Nasser was quoted by the website as stating that the two countries’ consular and border committees will convene soon, and that he invited his Iranian counterpart to visit Kuwait.
