Indian gives in after killing his compatriot in cash row

KUWAIT CITY, April 24: An Indian man allegedly stabbed to death a 26-year-old compatriot in front of a restaurant in Jleeb Al- Shuyoukh due to dispute over money. Securitymen and paramedics were dispatched to the location immediately after the Operations Unit in the Interior Ministry received information on the stabbing incident. Upon arrival at the scene, the rescuers found the victim lying in a pool of blood so they took him to a nearby hospital but he died on the way.

His remains were referred to Forensics. Security sources revealed the suspect fl ed from the scene after stabbing the victim but he later turned himself in a police station where he told the offi cers that he had a heated argument with the victim over money matters and then he stabbed him twice. A case was registered and the suspect was referred to the Public Prosecution.

Trucker acquitted: The Criminal Section in the Court of First Instance acquitted an expatriate trucker of smuggling and trafficking 17 kgs of narcotics from Iraq. According to the prosecution witness and customs officer assigned at Abdali Border, the suspect was jittery when he drove his truck to the border. The officers used a sniffer dog to check the truck, leading to the discovery of narcotics — hashish and intoxicants — hidden inside a cooling box. The Public Prosecution charged the suspect with drug smuggling and trafficking but he denied the charges, claiming somebody gave him the box for transportation to Kuwait without knowing the contents. Defense counsel, Attorney Mohammad Hamza Abbas, pleaded with the court on behalf of his client as he faulted the search and arrest procedures.

Fight over kids: A Jordanian woman suffered from bruise on her foot after engaging in a fistfight with an Egyptian woman in a building at an undisclosed location. Medical emergency workers and securitymen rushed to the location after receiving information on the incident from the guard of the building. When they arrived at the scene, they discovered the two women had a heated argument, which escalated into a fistfight, while they were trying to settle the quarrel between their sons. The Jordanian woman was provided treatment on the spot and she along with the Egyptian woman were referred to a nearby police station for questioning. Meanwhile, a 22-year-old Syrian hit the head of an Asian with an iron bar in Salmiya after fighting over a parking space. The Asian was taken to the nearest hospital while the Syrian was referred to a police station for legal action.

Smuggling foiled: The Egyptian authorities recently foiled an attempt to smuggle out of the country locally manufactured and imported medicines worth 9.8 million Egyptian pounds to Kuwait, reports Al- Rai daily. According to reports the medicines cannot be exported according to the Egyptian law and at the center of the fraud is an Egyptian import-export company which was attempting to ship the drugs from the Nuweiba port to Kuwait.
