TEHRAN, March 19: About 50 Iranians are being infected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) per hour, an official at Iranian the Ministry of Health and Medical Education said on Thursday.

Kianoush Jahanpour, head of public relations and information center of the Health Ministry, was quoted by the official Iranian news agency, IRNA, as saying that the deadly virus kills one person every ten minutes.
The official called on people to stay at home to remain safe and prevent spread of the coronavirus.
Iran announced on Wednesday that number of infected people in the country rose to 17,361 including 1,135 who lost their lives.
The deadly coronavirus that first broke out in Wuhan, China, in December 2019 has affected nations across the world, taking lives of over 8,000 people. (KUNA)
