KUWAIT CITY, July 2: During a crackdown on popular markets, the General Security Department of the Ministry of Interior in cooperation with the Kuwait Municipality is said to have seized large quantities of subsidized foodstuffs and fruits and vegetables unfit for human consumption, reports Al-Anba daily. The daily added, scores of expatriate employees have been arrested for violating residence law. It has also been reported a big number of shoppers and salesmen ‘abandoned’ the market to evade arrest.
Check on speedsters: The Jahra Traffic Department has installed mobile radar devices throughout the governorate through mobile vehicles aimed at controlling the speeding motorists, reports Al-Anba daily. The daily added, until now the radars have ‘caught’ 800 speeding motorists — motorists who had exceeded the speed limits on highways. This came within the weekly campaign which is being held on the roads by the General Directorate of Traffic. The mobile radar devices are placed on the highways in the six governorates in order to reduce the number of speeding motorists, particularly the youth, who race along highways during weekends. The violations have been were referred to the Department of Investigation of Violations at the Directorate- General of Traffic.
