His Highness the Amir 9th International Shooting GPrix resumes

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 13: His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah will grace the opening ceremony of the His Highness the Amir 9th International Shooting Grand Prix Tuesday evening at 6 pm. He will be represented by Governor of Jahra Nasser Al-Hajraf inside the Martyr Fahad Al-Ahmad Hall of Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex.

The ceremony will begin with reception of the representative of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, followed by the national anthem of Kuwait, recitation of the Holy Quran, and then the speech of the Head of higher organizing committee of the competition, and Head of Kuwait and Arab shooting federations Engr Duaij Al-Otaibi. After his speech, other festivities organized for the event will follow.

Kuwaiti delegation

The opening ceremony was due to be held on Saturday, Jan 11 but it was postponed to observe the three-day mourning over the death of Sultan Qaboos bin Saeed of Oman. Earlier, Engr Dueij Al-Otaibi headed of the 4th meeting of the Kuwait and Arab shooting federations that was held at the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympics Shooting Complex. He welcomed the officials of the federations, and discussed the agendas that were tabled in the last meeting of the federations. Previously, Secretary General of the Kuwait and Arab shooting federations Engr Obeid Al- Osaimi praised the generous support of His Highness the Amir towards the shooting sport and the sharpshooters, emphasizing the fact that the tournament will continue for the ninth year following its series of successes.

More than 360 sharpshooters from 30 Arab and foreign countries are set to participate in His Highness the Amir 9th International Shooting Grand Prix at the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex. Kuwait will be represented by a total of 100 male and female sharpshooters – 44 of them in rifl e category, 45 in pistol, and 11 in Olympic archery.
