KUWAIT CITY, Oct 11: Senior security sources allayed fears of expatriates on the proposed increase of service fees in the coming phase, as many expatriates expect the step will affect their earnings, reports Al-Rai daily.

Sources said a recent study submitted to the Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khalid on the proposed increase of traffic fees covering fines for violations and licenses for vehicles indicated his approval is still awaited before an official statement will be made to the public.

The same sources reassured the fees will not be increased in a way that will affect expatriates contrary to rumors, as the living conditions has been carefully considered after a field inspection of the traffic situation before proposing the fee increase.

They reiterated the proposed increase of traffic fees will help eliminate old vehicles and reduce traffic violations and other issues.
