KUWAIT CITY, Sept 1: The Director of the Public Authority for Industry, Abdul Karim Taqi has suggested that the Public Authority for Manpower raise the percentage of labor support for Kuwaiti workers in the industrial sector, specifically those working in factories, by 10 percent in addition to the rate that is currently being disbursed, reports Al-Rai daily quoting sources close to the issue.

Taqi also suggested the formation of a committee to look into the grievances faced by workers, if any, to ensure work does not suffer. The sources indicated that the proposal to increase industrial employment will further stimulate the Kuwaitization of industrial jobs because the jobs will attract citizens if they are given appropriate incentives. The sources stated the factories do not attract a large segment of citizens due to the effort expended in their work and the low salary scale compared to other jobs. The sources pointed out “the cost of some decisions may seem high in the short term, but their returns in the medium and long term are much greater.”
