Heroin seized as Pakistani cabbie confesses drug peddling in Salmiya area

KUWAIT CITY, April 1: A Pakistani taxi driver was arrested in possession of 20 sachets of heroin inside his flat in Salmiya area. According to security sources, Hawally securitymen were patrolling Salmiya area when they stopped a taxi based on suspicions and checked the details to discover he is a Pakistani expatriate. While interrogating him further, he tried to escape. Securitymen stopped him and firmly questioned him on the reason behind his escape. The suspect eventually confessed that he is involved in drug peddling. He revealed that he has drugs in his flat. He led securitymen to his flat where they confiscated the drugs. He was arrested and referred to the concerned authorities. Meanwhile, an Egyptian expatriate was arrested in possession of three “Farawla” narcotic pills while he was walking in Khaitan area at night.

Trucker injured: An Asian expatriate sustained injuries when his heavy vehicle carrying a container overturned in Shuwaikh area. According to security sources, when the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received information about the accident, securitymen, paramedics and firefighters rushed to the location. Paramedics referred the injured driver to Jahra Hospital while securitymen removed the heavy vehicle from the road. Necessary action was taken.

4 on 2 wheels: Reports have been received by Al-Seyassah daily about several cases of reckless driving whereby motorists have been driving their four-wheel vehicles on two wheels. This in turn has been creating problems on the roads and posing risks to the lives of other road users besides their own especially at intersections and roundabouts. Concerned security authorities are urged to take necessary action against such reckless drivers for ensuring safety of people who use roads in Kuwait, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
