KUWAIT CITY, Oct 5: The Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) website was exposed to hacking in a series of operations last month that lasted until the beginning of this month, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting reliable sources.
The same sources said the hackers focused on some of loopholes to enter the system, disable it and steal the data to encrypt it for extortion.
The sources added the hackers caused the disruption of e-linking systems in the Ministry of Interior (MoI), PACI and the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) and other organizations, repeatedly over the past five days.
The sources cited the targeting of MoI, PACI, and PAM systems because of their huge databank which contains confidential information related to bank accounts and other information concerning citizens and also residents.
The sources pointed to a report issued by the State Audit Bureau which talks about weak cyber protection in most government agencies, saying only a few have taken the warnings seriously, however it looks the information and data of Kuwaiti are at greater risk.
